Cogent Growth Partners Adds to Long List of MSP Client Success Stories After Advising Charles IT on Acquisition of NST Systems

Leading IT Firm Enhances East Coast Presence with Latest Completed Deal

ATLANTA – February 8, 2022 – Cogent Growth Partners’ a buy-side advisor and intermediary for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the IT Services sector, today announced its role in Charles IT’s acquisition of managed services provider (MSP) NST Systems. Charles IT, one of the top 3% of IT service providers in the Connecticut/Metro New York market, provides technology support for companies and enterprises in highly regulated industries, and NST Systems, Inc. provides a diverse array of IT Solutions to small and midsized businesses serving parts of Connecticut and the New York metro area. Cogent sourced NST as a candidate for its client Charles IT, performed pre-deal analysis and deal structuring, then led project management, due diligence, and deal negotiation to assist in getting the transaction successfully completed for both companies.

“Acquiring NST Systems was a strategic decision that will benefit both our firm and NST Systems. Cogent Growth Partners played a critical role in helping us find this perfect fit,” said Foster Charles, founder and CEO of Charles IT. “As company leaders increasingly seek the strongest, most secure IT solutions, we want to be the leader whose reputation for achieving these goals is unrivalled.”

This latest transaction, which expands Charles IT’s presence in Connecticut and metro New York, is one of more than a dozen acquisitions Cogent has closed in the past 12 months.

“At Cogent, we pride ourselves on being able to identify MSPs with similar cultures and values that offer a good fit for the customers and employees of both companies,” said Rick Murphy, CEO and Managing Partner of Cogent. “That was certainly the case in this transaction, which paired two proven MSP leaders with complementary services. We look forward to seeing Charles IT expand its footprint across the East Coast with future acquisitions.”

From its inception in 2010, Cogent has been dedicated to helping IT business owners discover and consummate acquisition opportunities with well-matched candidate companies, so that together they can leverage evolving organic growth. Along the way they have developed unique tools and processes that allow the deal parties to stay focused on their businesses while the Cogent team streamlines the acquisition.
